The latest edition of the CTE Spotlight newsletter from the Department of Education is now available on-line. The second issues of the PDF publication includes:
- An in-depth feature on the Academy for Careers in TV and Film, a CTE high school in Long Island City that includes a student-led film production company.
- A guest column by Francoise Jacobsohn, Vice-Chair of the CTE Advisory Council and Equality Works Project Manager for Legal Momentum, detailing the New York City Pipeline Project to support gender equity in CTE.
- An interview with Food and Finance High School senior Lazarus Lynch, who organized the first annual Youth Hunger Summit at his school in April, packaging over 10,000 meals for underfed New Yorkers.
- Roundups of CTE competitions and articles and reports on career and technical education.
The Spotlight was designed and produced by students of Chelsea Career and Technical High School under the guidance of teacher Scott Fowler. We thank the students, congratulate them on their graduation and wish them the very best of luck.5
