CTE + Students with Disabilities Professional Development Event Launches Nov. 5

The CTE + SWD Committee of the CTE Council in partnership with the NYC DOE Department of Students with Disabilities and the New York State CTE Technical Assistance Center is launching a professional development conference on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, Election Day hosted by The New York Times.

Help spread the word to teachers at CTE schools who need to understand the IEP, integration of the Common Core and transition goals.



ConstanceSponnx80Dr. Constance Spohn, Lead Specialist of the CTE Technical Assistance Center (TAC) in Albany will keynote the event. Dr. Spohn’s work experience included teaching career and technical education and special education students. Her students have ranged in age from pre-school to adult. She began her career at the Madison Oneida Counties BOCES in Verona , NY where she taught career exploration courses to special education students and child care services to both special and general education students.

Conference attendees will receive copies of Paul Tough’s provocative and profoundly hopeful new book How Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity, and the Hidden Power of Character.
