After taking top honors in the local New York heat, a team of young legal scholars from Edward R. Murrow High School placed second at last month’s New York State Finals of the We the People Program administered by the New York State Bar Association.  In the Finals, students “testify” before a simulated congressional hearing in front of a panel of judges. They demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of constitutional principles and have opportunities to evaluate, take, and defend positions on relevant historical and contemporary issues. The New York State Bar Association and the Justice Resource Center under the direction of Debra Lesser sponsor the city and state programs at high schools throughout New York City.
